Greetings from the Leavenworth Church of Christ family! Whether you are a brother or sister in Christ re-locating to Leavenworth, or a military family moving to our area, or just curious and looking, I hope you will find your visit on this website and to our services informative, challenging, and edifying.
We believe that all Christians are to be disciples of Christ and not merely passive recipients. As a result, we desire to be a Christ-centered family, learning, sharing and caring. We have ministries devoted to each of these things.
We reflect our Christ-centeredness in all we do, especially our worship. Our worship is not about putting on a show, but a participatory experience in which we put our voices together to praise our Lord and encourage one another. We believe that the "audience" in our worship is not the ones sitting in the pews, but the Lord himself. When we pray, sing, give, and commune, we do so to please and honor our Lord.
We are devoted as a learning people as well. Our Bible Class program is designed to increase our knowledge of the scriptures, which is the main tool that God uses to shape and form us into the image of Christ. Since we believe that both content and practice are necessary to personal and spiritual growth, our learning is not merely informational, but transformational, which is why the ultimate goal of our study is the formation of godliness in actions, thoughts, and will.
We are devoted as a sharing community. Jesus came with a mission and has passed that mission on to his church. As a result, we believe that our purpose is not only to keep the faith, but the share the faith as well. We have supported both foreign missions and local evangelistic efforts. Our benevolent efforts are not ends in themselves, nor is the ultimate goal taking care of only surface needs. Like our Lord demonstrated, we move from the surface needs to the deepest spiritual needs and share the only way to meet those needs, which is through a relationship with Jesus as Lord and Savior.
We are devoted as a caring family. Our small group ministry helps us to facilitate caring ministry. God demonstrated his gracious care for us through Jesus. Since Jesus is our model, we strive to care and share as he did, focusing on connecting with each other on a more personal level. This ministry is designed to go beyond "foyer fellowship" and casual acquaintances and from spiritual friendships with Christ at the center.
Since coming to the congregation in 2001, I have seen lives that have transformed, serving, sharing, caring, and doing the things that pleases God. This congregation has expressed a caring spirit which is precious to God.
